Available Visa Types for Taiwan Residents

Taiwan residents have access to the Working Holiday Visa, the Red-White-Red Card, and the EU Blue Card. Austria offers special opportunities for youth mobility through a reciprocal quota system.

Main Work Routes

Red-White-Red Card

Points-based permit for skilled professionals. Requires a binding job offer. Points are awarded for age, education, and language skills.

Working Holiday

Allows Taiwan youth (18-30) to work and travel in Austria for up to 1 year. Annual quota: 100 places.

EU Blue Card

For highly qualified workers with a recognized degree and a salary offer meeting the high-income threshold (approx. €66,000+).

Valid Taiwan Passport (with ID number)

Binding job offer with minimum wage

Authenticated Academic Degrees (MOFA & Austrian Office)

Language scores (German A1+ or English)

Authenticated Police Record (Criminal Record Certificate)

Typical Process

Application in Taipei

Submit your application at the Austrian Office Taipei (AOT).

Points Verification

Your application is forwarded to Austria for evaluation by the AMS (Public Employment Service).

Visa D Approval

Receive a Visa D for entry into Austria once the RWR card is provisionally approved.

Resident Permit Collection

Collect your RWR residence permit from the local authority in Austria after arrival and registration.
