Entry & Residency Pathways for Mainland Area Residents
Information based on current research for Mainland area residents wishing to enter and work in Taiwan area.
Mainland area residents face highly restricted entry and work rules. Residency and employment are primarily limited to Specialized Professional Exchanges, Intra-company Transfers, and Family Reunification. Direct recruitment for general roles is generally not permitted.
For persons participating in specialized industrial, academic, or cultural exchanges. Requires a Taiwanese "Invitational Unit" to apply on your behalf.
For employees of multinational corporations or Mainland companies with approved branches in Taiwan. Limited to managerial or technical roles.
Mainland spouses of Taiwan residents can apply for residency and work rights through a multi-stage process (Tuanju -> Juju -> Dingju).
The inviting organization in Taiwan applies for your "Permission to Enter" via the NIA Online System.
Apply for your Mainland-issued "Taiwan Pass" (EEP) at your local Entry-Exit Bureau in Mainland China.
Enter Taiwan via approved checkpoints. You must carry both the Entry Permit and your Taiwan Pass.
Apply for your Resident Entry Permit (IC Card) at the National Immigration Agency within the required timeframe.
