Information based on current research for applicants from Mainland China wishing to live and work in Australia.
Mainland Chinese citizens primarily apply for the Work and Holiday Visa (Subclass 462), the TSS (Subclass 482), or skilled residence visas. Note that the 462 visa for China is highly competitive and uses a ballot/pre-application process.
The Temporary Skill Shortage visa for skilled workers sponsored by an Australian employer.
Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional visa for work in designated regional areas of Australia.
For citizens aged 18-30 with at least two years of post-secondary education. Requires selection via a ballot system before you can apply.
Identify the correct visa (482, 494, etc.) based on your job offer and area of work.
The Australian employer lodged sponsorship and nomination details via the ImmiAccount portal.
Submit your application online. Attend an AVAC in Beijing, Shanghai, or Guangzhou for biometrics.
The visa is granted electronically after processing. Processing typically takes 1-4 months.
