Mainland Travel Permit (Home Return Permit)

Hong Kong residents of Chinese nationality typically use the Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents to enter and work in the Mainland without a visa. Since 2018, the requirement for a specific "Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Citizens' Work Permit" has been abolished.

Special professional and tax incentives for HK talents working in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) cities like Shenzhen and Guangzhou.

Direct Employment

HK residents can be directly employed by Mainland entities using their Home Return Permit. No separate work visa is required.

Typical Process

Entry is seamless via kiosks/e-gates. No visa application is needed for Chinese nationals from HK.

Sign Employment Contract

Ensure the contract complies with Mainland labor laws and handles social security (Wujing).

Apply for Residence Permit

If staying for >6 months, apply for the Residence Permit for HK, Macao, and Taiwan Residents.

The employer must register the employee in the local social security and housing fund systems.
