United Kingdom Work Guide

Professional & Skilled Pathways for German Citizens

Relocating to Great Britain

A comprehensive guide for German citizens wishing to live and work in the UK post-Brexit.

Professional Visa System

Following Brexit, German citizens no longer have the automatic right to live and work in the UK. There is currently no Youth Mobility (Working Holiday) agreement between the UK and Germany. The main pathway for employment is the Skilled Worker Visa, which requires sponsorship from a UK employer. Short-term business visits for meetings or training (up to 6 months) remain visa-free.

Visa Categories

Skilled Worker

Requires a job offer from a licensed UK sponsor. You must earn at least the salary threshold for the specific role.

Pay the IHS (£1,035/year) and the visa fee (varies by role duration, e.g., £719 for up to 3 years).
