Work & Residency Pathways for Austrian Citizens
Information based on current research for Austrian citizens wishing to live and work in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
Austrian citizens have options including the Working Holiday Scheme, the General Employment Policy (GEP), and the Top Talent Pass Scheme (TTPS). Hong Kong's points-based Quality Migrant Admission Scheme (QMAS) is also available for highly skilled individuals.
Top Talent Pass Scheme. For earners with HK$2.5M+ annual income or graduates from the world's top 100 universities. No job offer required for the first 2 years.
General Employment Policy. For professionals with specialized skills. Requires sponsorship from a local registered company in Hong Kong.
Allows Austrians (18-30) to work and travel for 1 year. Annual quota: 100 places. Ideal for cultural exchange and short-term work.
Prepare all documents and submit them online via the Immigration Department (ImmD) e-Services portal.
ImmD assesses the application. They may request additional information from the applicant or employer.
Receive a notification of approval. Pay the prescribed fee online to obtain your electronic visa.
Enter HK and make a booking to register for your HKID card if your stay exceeds 180 days.
